About Jama Masjid
Jama Masjid, the main Friday mosque of Ahmedabad's old city, was built by the city's founder, Sultan Ahmed Shah, and completed in 1424. Its prayer hall has 260 pillars supporting 15 domes, and some domes have lotus-like carving, as in many Jain temples. It stands near Teen Darwaza, inside the UNESCO-listed Historic City of Ahmadabad.
