About Calico Museum of Textiles
The Calico Museum of Textiles was founded in 1949 by Gautam Sarabhai with his sister Gira Sarabhai, and opened by Jawaharlal Nehru. It is housed at The Retreat, the Sarabhai family estate in Shahibaug. Its galleries show Indian textiles, some centuries old, including Kashmiri shawls, Mughal court tents and costumes, regional embroideries and tie-dye work.
