About Blackbuck National Park
Blackbuck National Park at Velavadar protects flat grassland in the Bhal region, about an hour's drive from Bhavnagar. It was once the Maharaja of Bhavnagar's grassland for hunting blackbuck with cheetahs, and became a protected area in 1976. People come to see herds of blackbuck, wintering harriers and, with luck, Indian wolves and striped hyenas.
